"I have known Mike and his family for over twenty years. I have watched him mature from a fifth grader, wrestling at St. Albert’s grade school, through his years at St. Edward High School and the University of Michigan, both as a competitor and as a coach.
" Coach Greg Urbas, St Edward High School.
"Mike has personally given many clinics to our wrestlers at St. Edward and at other high schools throughout Ohio and Michigan. He also was our lead coach on our Ohio Junior National Team, preparing them well before, during, and after their competitions. Mike has run the commuter camp at St. Edward High School the past five years. This camp attracts wrestlers from all over Ohio and surrounding states.
" Coach Greg Urbas, St. Edward High School

This past weekend at the Palace of Auburn Hills featured a display of some fantastic wrestling. It is great to see so many former youth wrestlers in the hunt. What is most gratifying is to see the average youth wrestlers develop into above average competitors in the high school level.
Yes we have many standouts who continue to stand out. Wrestling in the State of Michigan is making some great strides on a National level. It is a testament to all of the youth programs throughout Michigan as well as the many youth wrestling leagues.
Parents, coaches and wrestlers take note. It was fundamental wrestling
that got these kids to the state tournament and helped them become champions. The same fundamentals that take high school wrestlers to the next level and on to All American status.
It will be fun to watch as our youth as they continue to develop into State and National caliber wrestlers. It is safe to say Michigan wrestling is back.

This December 20, 21, 22 and 23 at the Heidleberg Restaurant in Ann Arbor the Jr. Wolverine's look to fund financial aid to families in need. As well as fund their major expenses, rent, insurance, coaching and retire debt on their newly reconditioned wrestling mats.
All proceeds go directly to the wrestling club. Have some great German food, fun, drinks and play some cards. All for a great cause.
This past September the Jr. Wolverine's announced Financial Aid was available to families in economic hardship. "No one should not wrestle because they can not afford it. I came from a large family in Cleveland Ohio. Many people helped us along the way. We have had literally hundreds of kids pass through our wrestling room doors over the past ten years. It is tough to see how hard families struggle." said Coach Mason.
The Jr. Wolverine's Board of Directors made a decision to offer financial aid to those families in need. Anyone interested in the aid should contact Club VP, Dawn Hall. You can get more info about the fundraiser at www.JrWolverineWrestlingClub.com
Pat is one of those rare exceptional wrestlers who continue to give back to the sport. "Pat was my assistant coach at MSU. It was great to see him as well share his wrestling and life experiences with the kids." said Mason, Director of Wolverine WC.
As a Wrestler, Coach and Parent take note. It is not always about who is the Champ. It is about building self confidance, self Esteem and building on life lessons. Wrestling does not buy me a cup of coffee, but it sure is rewarding to give back to such nice kids. Even if they are from Ann Arbor.
Pat offered more than wrestling technique, as he shared with these young minds what wrestling was all about. How wrestling would carry you after your athletic days. "How can the average person keep up with a former wrestler? Whether business or life. We all share a common bond together. Yes, even the 6 year old as well as a National Champion."
